Recall of Hooded Sweatshirts
December 22, 2007 9:27 am RecallsGirls’ Hooded Sweatshirts with Drawstrings Recalled by Liberty Apparel Due to Strangulation Hazard
Jewel brand girls’ hooded sweatshirts, about 12,000 of them sold in U.S., have a drawstring through the hood, which can pose a strangulation hazard to children. In February 1996, CPSC issued guidelines (pdf) to help prevent children from strangling or getting entangled on the neck and waist by drawstrings in upper garments, such as jackets and sweatshirts.
There have been no reported injuries but onsumers should immediately remove the drawstrings to eliminate the hazard, or return the sweatshirts to either the place of purchase or Liberty Apparel for a full refund.
