I have had nothing to do with the naming of any of my offspring. I do, however, have three warnings.

Are there common short forms or nicknames for the name? Do you like them? My first name is Richard and when I was young I was usually called Rick or Ricky. I was okay with that. But Dick was a version I hated.

Check the initials of your proposed name. What if your daughter, Patricia Isabel Glatz, wanted to monogram her favourite top?

Watch out for rhyming first and last names. Other children will have fun and your child will suffer.
