Teaching the Value of Money to Kids
October 21, 2006 7:37 pm AdviceOne very important message that I attempted to teach to my children, was the concept of budgeting. Don’t spend your money faster than you make it, and save money for emergencies. These two concepts do not “sink in” well with today’s generation. They want and they want now. Unfortunately, none of my children have done well so far. They stretch themselves too thin and then ask dad to help tide them over. As they have done this more than several times, I am starting to say no.
Hopefully they will start to remember the lessons they were taught. In the meantime, I believe that we must teach the correct principles. Our children may not always implement what they have learned, at least not right away, but hopefully the lessons will eventually sink in. Please read
